As other organizations within the school are already planning to carry out certain activities, the ‘dunking machine’ idea has been dropped along with the ‘fishing for fishes’ one.

In replacement, the Peer Leaders have innovatively come up with “Iggy’s Game”, whereby wet sponges will be thrown at the faces of people, which will be sticking out from the holes of a waterproof cardboard.

The cost for participants are as follows:
1. $2.00 for 3 throws of wet sponges
2. $2.00 for 15 seconds of water gun use
3. $10.00 for teachers
4. $50.00 for Mr. Lak
5. $100.00 for the sponge to be thrown directly at a selected person’s face.

In addition, a mixture of various chips (“Jason’s Chips”) will be sold in cups at $1.00 per cup as well as ice-cream floats (“Hot-Weather Plan”) at the cost of $2.50 per cup.

Lastly, some Peer Leaders will be ubiquitous vendors (“Moving Ads.), walking round, attempting to sell our various merchandises.

Due to relatively poor academic results produced by St. Anthony’s Primary school students, variously teachers, inclusive of Ms. Siva, have arranged for tutors to voluntarily provide aid in Mathematics, English and Mandarin. Participating in this entitles one the fulfillment of the ‘Practicum’ criteria in the ‘LaSallian Leadership Award’ as well as CIP points.

Note that complete and utter commitment is required for this.

Participants are required to be Secondary 2 or above and have to either skate, run or cycle during the trail. Volunteers helping out need to be 16 and above. Shao Meng is checking if exceptions could be made to allow Secondary 3 Peer Leaders. This will be once again revisited by Shao Meng during the next meeting when more information has been garnered.

3. Joint Flag Day
Day & Date: Saturday, 30^th August 2008
Time: 9am - 6pm

Do note that this event clashes with the 75^th Anniversary Dinner. Those participating are allowed to leave at anytime and CIP points will be aptly allocated according to the correct duration spent at this event.

4)Secondary 1 Beach Cleaning

Dates: 1^st – 4^th July 2008
Time: 2.30pm – 4.30pm or 5.00pm

Staring from Tuesday, 1^st July 2008, the Secondary 1 classes will be heading over to East Coast Part for their CIP SPROUT programme. Only two classes will be sent over each day and the students will be broken up into smaller groups of ten - with 1 Peer Leader - and dispersed out to various checkpoints. Each class is allocated 3 recyclable trash bags. All Peer Leaders who are able to make it are recommended to help out.

Peer Leaders who wish to help clean the beach with the sec 1 CIP please submit your names to Jefferson. 2 PSLs will be assigned to each class when you sign up. Those who attend this CIP will be given CIP hours.

2) Crew Cut Appeal

We are appealing to all PSLs to get your hair shaven to support the cancer society for children. When you get your head shaven, you will be given 6 CIP hours and also be indirectly donating to the cancer fund. Just to let you know this is not a compulsory event.

3) Scrabble Competition

PSLs who volunteered to help in the scrabble competition will be going there as runners. The competition will be held at Downtown East on 29^th June. The meeting time is not confirmed yet.

4) Carnival SPS

There will be a carnival along St Patrick’s canal in conjunction with the turtle race. We will be having a booth to raise funds for our board. We are having ideas like having a dunk game where people can pay a sum of money to dunk a person. If anyone have any ideas for the booth please let any of the Excos know.

5) Project Outreach

Just a reminder: Project outreach is not cancelled. It is held every Monday from 7^th July to 28^th July. All the things that are required to be printed please pass then to Eugene Chung.

2) Turtle Helpers

All Sec3 PSLs are required to report to school on Monday at the Foyer by 1.30p.m to help to sort out the racing turtles. As there are many to be sorted, all PSLs should try to attend this. Following that, all PSLs are needed to sell racing turtles (I think is the certificate) to the public somewhere in June. What you have sold the previous time was just the turtles meant to be kept as decoration and souvenir.

Note: Those who do not have a valid reason for not going for the CIP and Turtle event will be dealt with. These two events are stepping stones in your life as a PSL. Not attending character building is a waste.

3) Discipline

A PSL has been sacked from our board as he was given numerous warnings from Cikgu Hazlian and Ignatius. We do not need this kind of Peer Leaders in our board.We have briefly told the PSLs on how the new warning letter system works but is has not been finalised. More details will be given next meeting.

Attendance has been a major issue for the sec 4s. We have noticed that many of the sec 4 Peer Leaders has been skipping meetings. If we continue to see this happening, we will not hesitate to issue you warning letters.

5) Project Outreach

Project Outreach has been postponed to after our mid-year exams. This is because it clashes with the conversational Chinese/Malay program for sec 1s.

- Prefect requested PL to form a choir to perform for teacher's day but due to lack of time, negative feedback was given by PL presented and so Ignatius rejected the request
- Dominic said that Marcus said that "he will close down the board if PLTC is not up to standard", reasons was given by Ben and Dominic in support of the statement

My comment:
Guys, please cooperate with the OT as they have worked very hard for this. Example is like you guys took so long just to settle down.

I apologize for having to shout at you guys because Ignatius is trying very hard to get your attention, but some of you are ignoring him, some walking about, some keep on chatting and so on.

And even as this is a informal meeting, please be serious and come for the meeting and don't just leave without telling any of the OT.

We had to get a colour for the PLTC shirt so we took a vote and these are the results:
- orange=2 votes (no link to the theme)
- black=6 votes (not nice with the design)

Thanks guys for making it to the Friday's Peer Connection. I especially enjoy the sharing you guys give, I find that it contribute quiet a lot in giving the Sec 2 an in-sight of PSB.

However, there will be another (and the last) session of Peer Connection this upcoming Friday (20/7/07).

Because on Friday we have assembly, I need to change the time from 1.15 to 2.15 but there wasn't Angelus so the announcement wasn't made and thus all the Sec 2 left.

The debriefing for this Friday's session will be done during my Publicity meeting on Monday.

From how the event turn out on Friday, I won't need that much PL as it will be very disturbing. If you guys wish to play computer or talk or anything, please kindly do it outside as the noise will distract the participants. Thank you~

EDIT:
Okay, Yi Kai wants a PSL outing next Sunday (22/7/07) to celebrate Matthew's Birthday (and any other PL's birthday on July and August).

Okay, today was the day where my three and a half months of planning comes in (not inclusive of meetings, etc.). First is the debrief:

The Good:
- All except 1 participants wanted to become a PL after the event
- Participants became enthusiastic towards the end
- Presenters (both for PPT and PL sharing) did a good job
- Almost everything went according to plan
- Kept to schedule
- Met our objective
Commentary (not recorded in minutes):
- The computer, screen and sound were working well which enabled clear presentations and screening of Peer Connection videos
- Despite having some trouble at the start of PC, Mark and Nicholas showed they were capable of handling the situation by buying me some time
- Despite not having all the sec 2 who signed up for PL, many showed up (28 sec 2s were present) which shows publication was done well
- The feedbacks were generally positive
- The idea of giving sweets works rather well, the sec 2s seemed to enjoy them a lot

The Bad:
- PL helping out went missing/leave early without telling Shao Meng prior the start of Peer Connection (exception: Jitesh) resulting in a very messy situation
- Miscommunication of details of PL helping in Peer Connection
- Break time was too short
- Presentations have room for improvement
- Presenter Shao Meng needs to talk louder
- Time – It was thought PC was too long however this can be countered in the feedback (see Feedback)
- Announcement – There was no morning announcement, when told during Angelus, the Sec 2s are moving out of their classes so they missed the announcement
- Attitude of Sec 3 PLs
Commentary (not recorded in minutes):
- Sweets – PL took the sweets given to the sec 2 without permission and did not show their thankfulness until told

Suggestions/Improvements:
- Interact more -> give the sec 2s more stuff to do
- Sharing has to be plan before Peer Connection
- Tell the participants feedback forms have 2 pages
- Do not play too much videos
- Enforce discipline
- Having follow-up sessions (as suggested by Marcus):
- One more session (Discussive session) -> Will help during the interview, will be like 2 times the interview
- Suggested to be implement next year’s Peer Connection
Commentary (not recorded in minutes):
- If we have 2 PC sessions, each session can be cut short to 1½ hours, advantage includes less complain on being too long, second the total time spent is not too short, third, it will help in the interview to see if the person is accepted into PSB or not
- Jefferson said PC should start later but it was opposed by the others that 2.15 is just right, Jefferson’s reason was that he wasn’t able to eat before PC
- Announcement needs to be done a day or two before the actual event

Other Commentary:
- Steven shown he was capable in minutes recording from the minutes he has written
- The Feedback forms and Info sheets was done rather well (though not high in standard) and requires not much editing

As there were no other matters discussed, debrief ended at 5.12PM sharp.

Commentary:
- Why some will think Q&A was not informative enough may be because they asked questions about the interview which we cannot answer directly
- The energizers and games seemed to make the participants enjoy PC more though there seems to be a lack of it
- There was problems when it comes to meeting/planning which lead to presentation not being so well done
- As most PL left at the second half of the sessions, there wasn’t a lot of PLs left to do the sharing
- From Peer Connection’s activities, one can see very roughly who is capable to be a PL

Affirmation
As much as there are problems, you guys did a good job today. Thank you sooo much for coming down for Peer Connection to see what we are doing.

Okay, some of you guys wanted to see the posters made for the 4 week plan so here it is.

Guys! There will be a scrabble competition this upcoming sunday at NUS. The last time it was held at our school if you can still remember it.

1) Leadership Training Camp
There will be a 5 days student leader training camp held by our school.
Location: Sabah
Time: After Final Year Exam but after O level
In the end, Michael volunteered to represent the board to go for it.

2) Student Leader Dialogue
There will be student dialogue with Mr Lak held on 12th of July 2007.
If you have any thing(s) that you wish to bring up to benefit the welfare of the school, please write it onto a foolscape paper and passed it to Jason by 11th July 2007.

Week 1 – 16 Peer Leaders are released from their class at 1200 to report to Peer Leader room to get ready for interview. They are then separated into 5 groups with 2 sec 3 and 1 sec 4 per group. They have to go into the sec 2 classroom to publicizing our board and try to convince them to join the board.

Week 2- Forms are collected from the General office on Friday 6th of July at 100pm.

Week 3- Peer Connections will take place. Venue to be confirmed by Friday.

Questions on the Interview:
1) Why picked those 10 sec 3s only and those 5 sec 4s
Ans: We would like everyone to have a chance to perform and we believe that who we had selected are good enough and held a better image compared to the others. They have more of a talent to convince people to join the Board. Some are chosen to give them more chance to perform themselves as a interactive speaker.

2) If the first class take up too much time and second class the Muslim boys will have to attend mosque so how?
Ans: Firstly, the time taken per class will be given up to 15mins at most. Boys who think that they missed out the brief description and would want to join will definitely join the Peer Connections.

3) Does Cikgu know about the planning?
Ans: Absolutely Yes.

4) Other Stuff
Dominic have deleted a posts that shao meng have posted on the blog that was related to the new card that was kept as a memory for everyone.
He explained that he is just unhappy that the quote on Jordan’s card ‘Behind Every Excos, there is a few sec 3 that they treasure a lot’. He feels that this shows that the exco themselves is biased.

Dominic have posted on the tagboard of the blog that he has given the current excos too much freedom.
Martin replied that since his batch have chosen us as exco, shouldn’t it give the exco to try out new things and not limit ourselves to what was given. If he feels that he give too much freedom, does that meant that he have a say in the exco. The exco should have given the same amount of chance that the old excos have to improve the board and not as a wet blanket to turn down all ideas.

Room for Improvements:
Keep peer leaders in the room even if they are not needed so that they can contribute to more ideas and give more feedback.

Anyway, announcement for all Sec 3. There will be a short announcement by Cikgu and a short briefing for Friday's Peer Connection & Sec 2 Interview publicizing straight away after school at 1.50 PM at the PL room on Monday.

Here is the layout of what will be happening for the next three weeks:
Week 1, Friday - Peer Connection and Sec 2 Interview Promotion
Week 2, Monday - Peer Connection Workshop (Code name: Internal Outreach), for those going for Sec 2 Interview only
Week 2, Friday - Peer Connection Workshop, for anyone who wish to learn more about our board

Hey guys, it might be a little late but I like to thank those who made this chalet possible. Sorry if you guys are unable to enjoy this chalet to the fullest and Jason thought of that we should have another chalet at the end of the year, possibly after PLTC.

Anyway, I also like to thank my Publicity people, Martin and his Admin guys to help out in the up coming Sec 2 PL Interview. Speaking of which, the Sec 2 PL Interview will be accompanied by Class Publicizing and 'Internal Outreach'. I will post more info soon.

And I hope all PL will have fun in LLTC. Although I won't be able to join you guys, I will be popping by in school to the library plus I have a class BBQ party on Friday night in school either way.

Okay guys, good job on today's SPROUT zoo trip. And like what Mr Ng said, do take this as a learning experience and keep this question in mind:

"If I were to organize this CIP project instead, what would I have done?"

I am glad most of the PL today are Sec 3 as this can help you gain experiences for other projects in the future (i.e. PLTC). I can see you guys stick to your job like taking photos (thanks Colin, Hafiz and Steven) and as group leaders. I am sure you guys also enjoyed today's trip as well.

I hope you guys continue to engage in more similar activities like this and especially so with the other boards as I uphold great importances in the three boards working together.

On a side note, I am going to devote myself to the Marine Parade Family Centre as a full-time student volunteer. So for those interested or wish to know more as a full-time student volunteer (*cough*National Youth Achievement Award*cough*), please feel free to contact me.

This Tuesday is the zoo trip with the elderly. For those who have signed up, please attend it as attendance is compulsory. The reporting time is 730. The venue according to shao meng have been changed to school. Attire is any school related tee shirt with any pants including jeans. Please ensure that you drink a lot of water the night before and try to bring a water bottle along to drink so that you wont feel dehydrated throughout the day.

To Be Real, It Doesnt Matter Anyway

Hope I am not too late to spread the so-called 'holiday cheers'. (Gosh, Dominic beat me to it!)

Anyway, to my Publicity people (and those who wants to know what is going on right now), I have appointed some of you to do homework because after holidays we are going to be very busy for the month of July. While Martin handles the admin stuff for interview, we will be in-charge of publicizing to the sec 2.

Be sure to check ya e-mails for updates. Most likely I will start e-mailing after 8th as I will be very busy with the NCC camp and library and we will use the chalet as a checking point to catch up with all the details so I urge my publicity people to come for the chalet.

Also, to the school rally people, remember to practice your school rally. I will appoint the next I/C after I discuss with Cikgu soon.

Oh and if anyone have any ideas or suggestions for publicizing the board, let me know 'kay? Happy holidays!

EDIT: Okay, now I need help from you guys. As you know that Publicity is doing the annual poster to put in Sec 2 classrooms, I want to make it into more of a newsletter.

Required: Capable writers to write a up to 150 words 1 paragraph essay on your experiences on either: PSB Convention '07, Chinese New Year '07, Project Outreach '07, Camp La Salle '07, Inaugural Prayer Service '07, Sports Carnival '07 or PLTC '06. (Basically anything event that is linked with PSB)

For me the 2007’s Secondary One Orientation Camp was an unforgettable experience being even more so as I was the Assistant Camp Chief. But I soon found out that with such a powerful position came along with heavy responsibilities. For instance I have to be with the participants throughout the camp and also be accountable for the various details like their meals and activities. Throughout the process I have grown in terms of maturity as I have learnt to be more patient and tolerant towards others. What matters most importantly to me is the special bond that I have developed between my fellow peer leaders as well as the participants. Although it was both mentally and physically straining but it was fun and enjoyable at the same time. I have taken with me precious moments from the camp and have enjoyed myself tremendously I would want to be part of it again.

The people who were present were given three jacket options to choose from.

Option 1: Non reversible and no hood
Cost: $26, Button Cuff, cover side pocket to contain their camp stuff during camp.

Option 2: Reversible, with hood.

Cost: $28, button cuff, cover side pocket.

Option 3: With hood.
Cost: $31-$33 Same as option 1 or 2 depend. It has an additional 5mm of wool within it.
The board has decided to have option 1 after the board wide vote.

2) Chalet
Confirm Date: 14/6/2007, Thursday
The board has decided to pick to have it at Costa Sands Pasir Ris.

The jacket front have a shamrock with green in colour and black outline. Below the shamrock has the word PSL written in yellow. The back has a PEER SUPPORT LEADERS word written in yellow too. Kindly tag whether you all want to have it in black or white colour for background and do you all which to have a zipper for the jacket.
It would likely to white. Living in a school society like us, it would not be nice to have black colour. I knwo this is sterotypying but we are living in Singapore so no choice have to follow. Thus i would rather hope that you all would pick white. If you all study source based, my purpose is to make you all vote for white but no choice la, so please make ur decision benefitting everyone. Thanks.

1) Overview of Project Outreach

-What went right
On task and finish on time
Perseverance as shown by peer leaders
Extra Peer Leaders were employed
Sec 1 love the subject
Facilitators were enthusiastic

-What went wrong
Too many facilitators for a subject
Lack of discipline
Science class went to library and did not inform anyone
English and Geography could not share a whiteboard
Music? Video?
Classroom where pupils needed to assemble was occupied by other teachers
Clashes with other activities

-What went right
On task, Ended on time
Perseverance, a value shown by fellow PSLs
Extra PLs were on standby
Some PLs were able to impress sec1s to make them come back for the next lesson.
Sec1s gradually love the subjects they were taught
PSLs were Enthusiatic.

-How to improve
Write down to bring textbook or not on consent form
While waiting, do something constructive
Interact with sec 1
Give announcement on PO in the morning instead of the afternoon

Jason needed people to participate in the Sports Day as officials to help out the prefects. Task on the day was to do ais the prefects in any way possible.

4) Chalet/ Publicity
Publicity people will be selling VCDs on picture that they have took during the events that PSB have went through to help PSB to raise funds. The disc will be selling at $2 each.
As follow of tradition, there will be a PSB chalet in June every year after the new batch of peer leaders get invested. This year to celebrate the 8th batch of PSL, there will be a chalet held at Aloha Loyang. Each person would kindly have to pay $15 each. It will be held between 11th to 15th of June and will be a 2D/1N chalet.

Hey guys sorry for not being able to post updates.
There were some technical problems with my computer and I had to take quite some while to solve it. Anyway I'm back, so no worries :)

Founder's day Investiture is tomorrow.
The Peer Leader's Room will be opened at 6.45am for Sec3 PSLs and EXCOs getting invested so that they will be able to put their bags in there. It will be opened only for a short while, so be punctual.

1) PSB Jacket
-The only way to get a jacket with hood is to have 100 pieces to customize-They chosen to have a cotton jacket without a hood

2) RGS T-Shirt
-Matthew will be helping the RGS convention people to sell their t-shirt to defray the cost
-Each shirt cost $10 -People who are interested are to see to Matthew.

3) Founder’s Day
-There is a rehearsal tomorrow at the foyer at 2pm
-Peer Leaders who are going to be invested are to be neatly attired - The sec 3 have been briefed about their position for the investiture.

4) Discipline and Publicity
-There was a check conducted for ankle socks in the meeting and it was good that no one wore any ankle socks.

-People who have long hair were asked to go and get a haircut.

-Publicity had a meeting after this meeting.

5) PSB Chalet
-There is going to be a chalet on either the 2nd or 3rd week of June.

-The price to pay has not been confirmed.

7) Project Outreach
-Project Outreach scheduled to start next week.
-Peer Leaders are to report at 2 o’ clock
-Halfway through, the sec 4s were dismissed while the sec 3 stayed back for more details and confirmation.
-Martin discussed with the subject IC about what should they do most appropriately and ways to teach more interestingly and what to prepare for next week.
-Subject ICs are to hand in their proposals to either Jason or Matthew or Martin to approve.
-After discussion, OT member decided that next Monday the sec 1 will meet at the foyer at 2.15 - Forms will be passed to the monitor by Wednesday to be given out to the class .
- Matthew, Leland, Michael and Colin will be meeting on Saturday to collate all the forms and come out with a subject list.

3)PSB Plans

- Dominic Yong created it last year.
- The Plan is to recruit more sec1s so that they would not be elected by the prefects and thus missed a golden opportunity to join Peer Support Board.
- However the principal and Brother did not give a reply to the plan answer.
- Many Discussions were made if the new plan works on whether the sec 1s will attend PLTC at sec 1 or sec 2.

- After much consideration, the new Exco are supposed to do it.

4)PSB Jacket

- There were some changes made.
- The front would have a new name as "PSL" while the back of the jacket would have "Peer Support Leaders" as voted by the Peer Leaders who were present.

- After the Term Assessment, Jefferson will come up with a new design and let the members of Peer Support Board decide again.

5) Excos of Year 2007

The elected member of each position are as follows:

okay guys! about the jacket. we have some probs !!!
there is NO waterproof material with hood!
so either we have a COTTON one with HOOD and zip OR waterproof material WITHOUT HOOD!
take note that we tried to bargain with the guy! he gave us the price of 39 bucks anyway.
and he said that 'for it to be $30 we have to get 200 pieces' which is IMPOSSIBLE for us.
cos it will be 200 x 30. no one will be able to pay 6000 first!!

Anyway it's quite sad to see only Merlin tagging the board. if the board isnt active. there is no need for one.

the new exco can carry out their duties and be just.
the new exco can work together as one.
the new exco will not create problems for the teachers

Time started: 1433hr

1) Ice Breakers.
There were Ice breakers that were carried out by Marcus. So as to allow everyone to be comfortable. PSLs stood up to introduce themselves from their names to class.

2) 2007 year plan.
Dominic spoke about the rules about the board, and that the Secondary 3 are on Probation. Warning letters were also introduced. He also covered what the board does in school.

3)Badge Making.
Cikgu Hazlian needed help from the PSL to make badges.
Matthew Han(4E3),Jordan Lee(3E3),Hafiz(3N1),Michael(3N3) and Dominic(5N1) volunteered.

4)Chinese New Year.
All PSLs are involved, they are required to create a Chinese New Year card.
They will give oranges and the Chinese New Year card on the celebration day.

5)30 week programme for year 2007.
PSLs are seperated into groups of 4 to come out a 30 week plan for the board.
shan't include the groupings here, will take up lots of space.

6) Updates.
PSLs were asked to update their particulars. Name, Class, IC, Birthday, Telephone Number, Email Address, Name of Next Kin and etc.

Meeting ended at 1630hr sharp.
